Trichomes
The cannabinoid factories of cannabis.
Sample post — placeholder English translation, awaiting M2 native-quality pass.
Many cannabis consumers don’t know what trichomes are, despite trichomes being the most important part of the cannabis plant — for recreational and medicinal users alike. The cannabinoids are produced inside the trichomes, and cannabinoids are the active compounds in cannabis.
The word “trichome” derives from the Greek Tríchōma, meaning “growth of hair.” Because these are microscopic hairs, you need to zoom in on that sticky resin layer covering top-quality cannabis buds to see the fields of trichomes. They look like masses of stalks crowned with tiny mushroom caps.
The plant produces these sticky trichomes for several reasons: protection from pests, protection from the climate, and a role in the reproductive cycle.
